Sony A6000 Camera Review (Still awesome)

Posted on November 19, 2018November 19, 2018 by admin

The Sony A6000 is a fantastic camera for anyone getting started in photography. I bought one back in 2016. It’s super light and compact. Continuous shooting mode is super fast but not always accurate and can return blurry images. I love the fact that it fits in my pocket. No need to bring bulky bags wherever you go. Sony has a small line of lines specifically for the Alpha series using E out lenses. However I like to use adapters and canon lenses which are cheaper and give you more options.

Sony has other cameras in the Alpha product line including the Sony A6300 and Sony A6500. Those basically give you a mic jack input and 4k. The Sony A6300 goes for around $200 more and ads 4k and incremental upgrades. The Sony A6500 adds weather sealing to the body and a touch screen and more auto focus points over 400. But for over $1,000, unless you are an action sports photographer tracking fast moving objects I don’t see a good reason for upgrading over the Sony A6000.

The images quality is nice, but I found

  • Pros
  • Small, compact and portable (can fit in your pocket)
  • Wifi and NFC
  • Fast continuous shooting mode

  • Cons
  • Battery life goes quick
  • Image quality isn’t the best

Right now the Sony A6000 is going for under $500. It’s a great buy for those getting started in photography or those wanting a compact camera for carry around.

  • 24 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and Focus Sensitivity Range :EV 0 to EV 20 (at ISO 100 equivalent with F2.8 lens attached)
  • ISO 100-25600 (expandable to 51200). Lens compatibility- Sony E-mount lenses
  • Hybrid AF with 179-point focal plane phase-detection and 25 contrast detect points
  • Up to 11 FPS continious shooting
  • 3-inch tilting LCD with 921,000 dots
  • In the box: Rechargeable Battery NP-FW50; Shoulder strap; Eyepiece cup; Micro USB cable
The Sony A6000 is a fantastic camera for anyone getting started in photography.
